Senior 3 National League Championship

1st Patrick Lewis & Dorothy Lewis – Good win for Patrick & Dorothy today, good all round performance claims them a first senior win (that I recall) and their way out of Pre-Champ. Well done.

2nd David Oswald & Heather Oswald – Pipped to second place just, a very good Waltz and Foxtrot, nice shaping and good performance.

3rd Laurence Nicholson & Joan Hodson -Steady away and nothing to pick fault at, good use of floor and flow around other couples. Quality Quickstep.

4th Paul Williams & Christina Williams – Very nice set of dances from Paul & Christina, a little more dynamics would edge them a little further up the line up. Really good show though and a nice Foxtrot.

5th Anthony Pickersgill & Anne Pickersgill – Did well today in a good field of dancers, placing was right on my card. More time in the slows and sharper in the quicks may improve their placings.

6th Sid Overton & Lorna Overton – Lovely Tango, I liked their approach to all dances but Tango stood out in my mind.

7th Tony Bridgwood & Joyce Bridgwood – Decent topline but some improvements needed in foot placement, good routines and a nice performance.

Amateur

1st Kyle Taylor & Polina Shklaeva
Absolutely stunning performances, such a perfect match in height, stretch and movement. Won all dances on my card.

2nd Jack Beale & Ekaterina Rominska
Brilliant dynamic routines, strength and their stamina unquestionable. Superb floor craft keeps them out of trouble.

3rd Christopher Millward & Victoria Bennett
Such a lovely couple to watch, they had everything right but unfortunately two other couples just had a bit more oomph.

4th Adam Bynert & Bethany Rushby
Steady performances all day, a nice Viennese.

5th Jonathan Luckcuck & Jannine Davies
Should be happy with this placing, good dancing and a nice projection to the audience.

6th Shane Leen & Michelle Mutuleasa
Never seen this couple before but they deserved their place in this final. Good routines and a confident display.

Senior 1 EADA

1st Dan Baxter & Janine Desai
Graceful lady pipped it for them today, beautiful performances.

2nd John Townsend & Sabine Kuntze
I thought that John & Sabine won Foxtrot & Quickstep on my card, great dynamic show they put on throughout.

3rd Ian Saville & Linda Chatterley
Superb Foxtrot,  fabulous effortless movement in all dances.

4th Piero Stillitano & Caroline Malkinson
Caroline has a super ability to keep Piero in line, her shoulders and back are something all ladies should make note of. Good movement in Tango, Viennese and Quickstep.

5th Craig Mann & Kelly Dix
Great effort today made them jump ahead of Andrew & Sharon, I saw a marked improvement since I last saw them at Cheslyn Hay

6th Andrew Kevan & Sharon Kevan
Looked a little too eager, tension showed in the topline.
Great routines worthy of an EADA final but there is a need to relax and settle into a more easy style.

Senior Pre-Champ

1st Michael Hodgson & Jayne Hodgson
How great to see a couple really give everything from strong topline to confidence and flowing movement. Great performance all 3 dances won on my card.

2nd Ian Binns & Susan Wardle
Surprise second place but their good shoulder line edged it in front of Steve & Angela. Nice quickstep.

3rd Stephen Harrison & Angela Ellis
A little stiff today I thought, and too much basic for a prechamp comp, but it was well executed and they do have confidence on the floor.

4th William Butterworth & Julie Buterworth
Nice set of dances for these two, a good all round show.

5th Tony Bridgwood & Joyce Bridgwood
Good Tango, if they bring all their dances to that level they could challenge for higher places.

6th Adrian Jackson & Cindy Stewart
Good attempt and should be pleased with making a final of this quality.
Nice Foxtrot

Youth EADA Ballroom NRE 6th February

(1) Michael Foskett & Korina Travis
Beautifully danced throughout, an absolute joy to watch.
Effortless Waltz and sharp Tango were my favourites on the day.
(2) Adam Bynert & Bethany Rushby
A great effort at attacking for first spot, superb floor craft and excellent footwork, I can only think it was hard for the judges to separate the top two.
(3) Marcus Lee & Charlotte Curuthers
Good result for Marcus and Charlotte, they have improved since the start of the year. Keep up the good work to get higher placings.
Quickstep was my favourite dance.
(4) Ryan Mills & Kelsey Fryer
Lovely movement in the Foxtrot had them higher placed on my card for that dance.
(5) James Tucker & Justine Jarrold
Nice strong movement in Tango gave a commanding presence.
I’ll look forward to watching them improve on marks in the future.

Senior PreChamp Ballroom 6th February

1) Michael Hodgson & Jayne Hodgson
Excellent result for this up and coming couple, an improved topline has moved them from mid table to top. All four dances on my card.
2) Stephen Harrison & Angela Ellis
Steady controlled routines kept them in second place.
Tango was their best dance overall.
3) William Butterworth & Julie Butterworth
Nice couple with some lovely routines, well executed.
A very nice section in Waltz was their best moment for me.
4) Pat Lewis & Dorothy Lewis
Well matched couple with a good quickstep. They should be pleased with this result in such a hard fought final.
5) Paul Berry & Tanya Powel
A very happy looking couple with some good choreography.
More work on strength and dynamics could move them up.
6) Michael Jones & Julia Jones
Great result for these two, a good foxtrot and Tango got them into the final on my card.

Amateur Ballroom

1 Christopher Millward & Victoria Bennett
Very well earned first spot, superbly composed in all five dances. Outstanding.

2 Przemek & Beata Inglot-Celewicz
I’ve never seen this couple before, they were fabulous and I’ll certainly look forward to watching them in the future. A great understanding of performance to express the dance.

3 Michael Foskett & Korina Travis
A great looking couple with some brilliant moments, they are fantastic in the Quickstep & Foxtrot

4 Matthew Dean & Sophie Webb
I too had these consistently in fourth spot, they were steady away in their routines.
Their best dances were Waltz & Foxtrot

5 James Tucker & Justine Jarrold
A good day for these two, they showed determination and composure throughout. Foxtrot was lovely and I think under marked in this final. A lovely couple to keep watching.

6 Ian Whyatt & Natalie Speakman
Super looking couple, perfectly matched. The lady has a gorgeous presence and the man a great shoulderline. Worthy of a higher spot on my book. I loved their Waltz, Tango and Quickstep

Senior 2 Ballroom

1 Steve & Sarah Everington
Very deserved winners of this competition, they oozed confidence and the lady was absolutely perfectly in tune with the mans lead. Clear win all dances.

2 Robert Wakefield & Irene Faulkner
Very nice performances. Their Waltz was their best dance today.
A little more work on topline to challenge for top spot.

3 Lawrence Nicolson & Joan Hobson
Good consistent competitors at this level with a nice grace about their style.
I had their Quickstep as their best dance.

4 David & Pauline Clarke
Deserved better than 4th I believe. They were very good in all four dances and I didn’t see a foot go wrong.

5 Pat & Dorothy Lewis
Consistent couple who have an understanding with each other that you can only get from dancing together over years. Lovely gentle Waltz and grounded Tango

6 Malcolm Prist & Brenda Swann
Deserved a higher placing for their elegant dancing throughout. Lovely Waltz with a very natural sway.

Senior PreChamp Ballroom

1 Michael & Hazel Branigan
Following on from their win earlier in the day in the Latin, Michael & Hazel looked confident and calm. Good musicality in the Waltz and strength in the Tango.

2 Malcolm Prist & Brenda Swann
Again Malcolm & Brenda are a nice elegant looking couple who have a lovely flow in their work, nothing offends and they could do well. Good work in all dances.

3 Pat & Dorothy Lewis
Second mention of this couple in these reports, which shows that they are consistent.

4 Michael & Jayne Hodgson
A great looking dynamic couple on the way up, strong top line and movement throughout.
Quickstep was ‘Quick’ and their Tango showed super floor coverage. One to watch out for.

5 William & Julie Butterworth
Another lovely couple who always enjoy their dancing, good steady performances in all three dances made them worthy of making the final.

6 Tony & Joyce Bridgwood
Sixth spot for Tony & Joyce but they should be pleased with this as the competition was well fought for. Their Waltz was their best dance of the day.

Juvenile Open Viennese Waltz Trophy

Fantastic! I am so glad that I got there early enough to watch some of the junior & juvenile competitions

1 Lewis Hateley & India Phillips-Bullock
Just lovely, timing, sway and performance. A great win.

2 Glenn Richard Boyce & Lydia Jade Hedges
Spoilt for choice as this couple were also superb. Keep at it.

3 Kobe-Malik Campbell & Ellie Fellows
Good steady Viennese with nothing offending.

4 Oliver Chattwood & Sophie Locke
Foot work was spot on and perfectly in time.

5 Samuel Cloke & Bethany Isard
Great shoulder line and head placement, a lovely dance.

6 Rhys Hedges & Rosie Swoboda
Beautiful grace about their Viennese which is nice to see in a young couple.
