Scarborough Dance Festival Senior 1 EADA National Ranking Event

1st Phil Holding and Jennie Dewar
Shock entry but good what a great performance in the final.
The trademark Foxtrot hover was right in front of me.
The Quickstep was spot on time and Viennese was superbly controlled which showed they are ready for Blackpool.

2nd Ian Saville and Linda Chatterley
Another great show of control and calmness.
Ian has a stillness in Waltz that must be admired by many male competitors.

3rd Piero Stillitano and Caroline Malkinson
Fought for higher but Ian’s calmness kept Piero and Caroline at third place.
Very good Foxtrot and quite a dynamic Tango.

4th Peter and Christine Worthington
Good movement throughout and well controlled across the short end of the floor in Quickstep.
Very good show of enjoyment in all dances.

5th Ramen Sen and Fides Matzdorf
Sassy Tango with some great emotion, good footwork and staccato.
Nicely stretched Foxtrot with a good amount of sway.

6th Ian and Penny Crampton
I enjoyed Ian & Panny’s dancing throughout.
A good set of routines with a great mix of technique and performance.

2 Richards @ Nantwich, October 2010

October 18th, 2010

2 Richards @ Nantwich Amateur Ballroom 10th October

1st Michael Foskett & Korina Travis
A brilliant display in the Ballroom for Michael & Korina
Calm and confident in the Waltz and Foxtrot, edgy and moody in the Tango and brisk in the Quickstep.

2nd Michael Johnson & Sally Rose Beardall
I love to watch this young couple, they never disappoint.
Fantastic use of emotion and sway, a good all round performance.
Brilliant Quickstep.

3rd Alan Carney & Leanne Foster
Good floor craft from Alan in a couple of tight situations.
This will help them as they move up the ranks.
Leanne has a super backline and a natural head movement.

4th Craig Jones & Jennifer Riley
Middle of the field is about right for Craig & Jennifer.
Excellent foxtrot and Tango, the latter being their best on the day.

5th Nick Kelly & Laura Fox
Nick & Laura have done excellent to make 5th in this final, a marked improvement from their Youth routine.

6th Daniel Trousdale & Sophie Dixon
Super up coming couple and one to watch, Daniel showed excellent footwork and sway.
Sophie has an exuberance and enjoyment that projects out to the audience.
Foxtrot easily their best dance.

7th John Campbell & Terri-Jo Moore
Probably worthy of a higher spot based on what I saw but with 7 couples it must have been close.
Quickstep was excellent with a super flowing set of movements.

Senior 1 Ballroom Final
Sunday 10th October at Nantwich

1st Peter & Christine Worthington
Worthy winners in all five dances in this Senior event (pardon the pun).
Peter had a confidence and calmness that was present throughout each dance.
Christine maintained her frame gracefully and without any noticeable dropping.

2nd Ramen Sen & Fides Matzdorf
Ramen & Fides put their hearts into their dancing today, good use of presentation and expression.
Quickstep was their best dance on the day.

3rd Michael Campbell & Diane Black
Very good use of floor and quite a dynamic performance.
Michael had a super topline with Diane draped on beautifully.
Lovely waltz, producing great sway.

4th Chris Vowden & Gail Butt
Looked absolutely jubilant at being in the final and it helped their performance.
Often a smaller couple are overlooked but these two made an impression worthy of being in a final.
Best dance was their quickstep, good foot speed and energy.

5th Matt & Kerry Stevenson
Making finals on a more regular basis now and gaining in confidence.
Very good at keeping to choreography, a little more flexibility may just produce higher results.

6th James & Laura Carroll
Lovely dancing from James & Laura.
Fabulous waltz and foxtrot, well grounded tango and a sprightly quickstep.

Senior Intermediate Foxtrot & Tango

1st Alf & Lynda Lees
Nice result for Alf & Lynda today, consistent in both dances and nice presentation.

2nd Stephen Tyrer & Julie Swainson
Second place for Stephen & Julie Intermediate seems to be their grade, they need an extra push to get another good win so that they can progress into pre-champ. Possibly a little work on promenade in Tango and drive in Foxtrot might just make that happen.

3rd Les & Janet Welch
With a bit of work on shoulder line for the gent and head position for the lady these may just start to head the field in Intermediate.

4th Paul Barry & Tanya Powell
Good foundations throughout but to make the front of the lineup would require a bit more spark.

5th Barry Tate & Rosemary Fenney
A surprise couple in this final, good steady dancing today. A bit more adventure required to keep at Intermediate but definitely moving in the right direction.

6th Andrew & Anita Fear
Deserved better than this for a really good pair of dances. Consistent and good top line.

7th Ain Skeldon & Jocelyn Lodwick
Well earned place in the final. Some work required to keep calm in places but a good shoulder line from the gent and nice backline from the lady could stand them well for the future.
